Our kids

You have become adults

It was only moments ago that you needed us to help you stand.

It was just yesterday we had to hold your hand.

Our secret language was spelling out words.

We were so careful about what you heard.

Suddenly you’re driving cars.

Now we ask you to open jars.

You have a language we don’t share.

There are lots of days you don’t need us there.

There will come a day when  you’ll hold our hand.

There will be more times you’ll help us to stand.

You have become adults.
